How to get
From Cochamó town
You must travel 11 km by car to the Cochamó valley, until the end of the road, if you need a ride from the town you can take a minibus to the beginning of the trail. In this place the path begins to go to La Junta, before entering the path you must register at the “visitor center”, then start the 13 km trekk. You will be surrounded by an evergreen forest, rivers and native flora and fauna until arriving at La Junta. Once in the place, you must cross the Cochamó river through a hanging trolley and you arrive at our campsite.
How to get to Cochamó?
By bus: From Puerto Montt there are buses to Cochamó and Río Puelo, in high season some buses enter the Valley until the trailhead. We recommend you to enter the Facebook of buses Estuario de Reloncaví (a bus company) to confirm departure times to and from Puerto Montt.
By vehicle: from Route 5, take the exit to Puerto Varas, and continue on the route along the coast of the lake Llanquihue to the southeast; passing through Ensenada and Ralún. Follow the same route and in 30 or 40 minutes more, you reach the town Cochamó. Five kilometers after passing Cochamó you will find a bridge, before crossing it turn left towards Paso el León.
This is the beginning of the Cochamó Valley road. Continue 6 kilometers and you will reach the end of the road for cars, here you can find parking. This is the beginning of the trail to La Junta.
You can enter the trail until 3:00 pm for security reasons, plan your trip well. Remember that the trekking to La Junta is between 4 to 8 hours one way, depending on your physical condition.
